Wedding toasts truly perform a very essential role in the wedding celebrations. They serve as a link amidst the formal wedding ceremony & a less formal atmosphere at the reception.

The wedding toasts allow the family members, relatives & all the close friends to talk their hearts out & with the beloved couple.

Initially this culture was started with the belief that making some loud noise like ringing a bell, clinking the glass, etc. casts away all the evil spirits.

The wedding toasts can also follow the traditional order & the non-traditional order as well.

The Traditional Order for Toast

1. In a traditional order of the wedding toast, the first & foremost toast is raised for the bride or for the beloved couple.

2. It is done by either of these that are – the best man, some close relative or a close friend.

3. Next, the groom responds in the honor of the bride with a message from the heart.

4. This message also goes in the honor of the person raising the toast, their parents and the brides’ maids.

5. Further, the best man then thanks the groom on the behalf of all the brides’ maids.

6. Some times the bride also speaks a few words right after the groom, as she tanks the best man and the brides’ maids.

7. Next some close friends or the relatives may follow with the next toast.

8. Now the bride’s father tanks all guests on the behalf of the bride’s mother & himself, as they announce the beginning of the celebration.

The Non-Traditional Order for Toast

1. This surely has different order as compared to the traditional.

2. Here, the order can be modified as per the choice of the couple, the guests & the occasion.

3. In this case the emcee proposes the very first toast in the honor of the couple.

4. Then the groom thanks the one who raised the toast that is the emcee, the guests and then raises a special toast for his bride.

5. Next, the bride expresses gratitude for the groom, the guests & proposes a special toast for her parents & the in-laws.

6. Sometimes a special toast can be raised for the in-laws.

7. Next the bride’s father thanks the bride for her toast. They thank all the guests, and announce the beginning of the celebrations.

8. Some times, the emcee also proposes a toast for the brides’ maids.

9. Soon after this the maid of honor responds as she thanks for the toast & proposes another toast.

10. Some times the emcee takes pleasure in introducing the guests who propose the toasts, and then they announce the celebrations beginning.

Now, here are some special tips that can be used while proposing the toast:

1. First & foremost serve the beverage to the bride, followed by her groom, then the maid of honor, couple’s parents & next, the best man.

2. A toast can be served as a sip of champagne or wine. For the non-alcoholics the options are any beverages except tea, coffee & water.

3. If you will propose the first toast, make sure that not only your glass, but also all the other glasses are filled before you start speaking.

4. While proposing a toast, one should raise the glass in the right hand.

5. The glass must be held straight in line with the shoulder.

6. Try composing some words to speak on the wedding toast. In case, you can not write some good piece, try reading out some traditional wedding toast, though you must personalize it with some true feelings from the heart. You can talk about the couple here.

7. At the end of the toast, remember to invite all the guests to join the celebrations.

8. Also you must thank them for coming to the wedding & give them some heartfelt response.

9. In case a toast is raised for you, that is, you have received a toast you must not raise the glass. You also must not stand or sip from your drink.

10. While receiving the toast, you just thank the ones who have raised the toast for you. Though it is not much required, you might like to propose another toast.

Only in America will you find dogs all dressed up and walking down the aisle! Don’t get me wrong, I am a dog lover myself, but I have to admit I was a little concerned when I arrived to the wedding and found out the bride was sending the rings down the aisle with her two beloved doggies

I am an ordained interfaith minister and have been performing non-traditional, unique ceremonies since 1999. My philosophy is it is your day and you should have it your way. My concern was not that she wanted the dogs in the ceremony, after all my philosophy is it is your day and you should have it your way. My concern was more of a practical one. The wedding was taking place outside within a fenced area, which was right next to a large pond with lots of birds and ducks. It can be difficult to count on children behaving just right in a ceremony, let alone trying to keep a dog from barking or God Forbid, chasing a bird or duck that should happen across his path

I understood that the pets were very important to the bride. They had been an integral part of her life, and she wanted them to be a part of her wedding ceremony. And, if that is what she wanted, then that is what she should have. She had arranged to have a ring pillow attached to a harness on the back of each dog. In order for the wedding rings to stay put, they would need to be tied pretty tightly, which at the altar can be a problem.

Nervous grooms with shaky hands can have a difficult time untying tight knots. On the other hand, if she did not tie them tightly, the walking motion of the dogs (or running) may cause the wedding rings to come loose and fall to the ground. Can’t you see it now, loose wedding rings rolling around on the ground and people falling all over each other to try to catch them? This would not be a good scene and definitely not a moment to cherish for a lifetime.

My suggested solution to her was simple. She could put fake wedding rings on the pillows and give the real wedding rings to a trusted adult member of the bridal party. That way, she could incorporate the animals she loved so dearly, while not risking the loss or damage to the real rings. (By the way, we do that all of the time with little kids and ring pillows!) With a little creativity and forethought, you can really have just about anything on your wedding day that you desire!

So everything had been booked and invitations sent, now is the time to sit back and have a bit of fun. Wedding Favors are great fun to make yourself especially if you are a little bit arty and like making things yourself.

Wedding favors date back may years and are a small gift given by the bride and groom to their guests as a token of appreciation on this their special day. Traditionally the Wedding Favor consisted of 5 almonds usually given in a small trinket box to signify (Wealth Health Happiness Longevity and Fertility)
Nowadays there is no set way of what you do for the wedding favor anything goes. However before you get carried away remember that the wedding favor is usually placed on the table where each person is sitting, so we do not want anything to large. So first you need to decide on whether you are going to make them yourself or buy them ready made.

If you have chosen ready made wedding favors then any good wedding shop will have a vast array of choice, so book yourself a day out with some friends and trawl the shops I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

If you are going to make the wedding favors yourself then you need to sit down and decide what you are going to make, this can be great fun and your choice is endless, will it be trinket boxes with the traditional almonds or maybe a piece of wedding cake, or even a small present of some type.

The wedding Favors do not have to be edible they could be something that can be kept by your guests for years to come. Pink ones for girls blue ones for boys maybe, remember that they are part of the table decoration so want to be in keeping with whatever else you are having on the table. There are also some lovely materials out there so maybe you could make little cloth bags that can be decorated with ribbons and flowers as these would look lovely as part of the table decorations and maybe a little easier to make that the trinket boxes.

Remember you do not want anything to difficult as you may have a hundred or more to make. Also do not leave it to late to decide on your wedding favors as you do not want to be rushed at the last minute as making them will become a chore. Decide on your wedding favors and but all the necessary equipment and then you can make a few each evening, believe me it very therapeutic.

Wedding are very expensive occasions, and saving money becomes a challenge. As you look at dresses and decorations, churches and dance halls the dollar signs get larger and larger. Everyone wants to find ways to save a bit of money without cutting too many corners on their wedding. Flowers are one way you can change the amount you will have to spend without sacrificing the beauty.

Some people go to extremes with trying to save money by opting for no flowers at all. If you aren’t ready for that big of a sacrifice there are other options to save money. A new trend is to have a single flower instead of a traditional bouquet. Having only one flower does have a bit of romance especially when the bride carries a calla lily which is a very elegant flower. If it is hard for the bride to give up the full bouquet a single flower could be given to each bridesmaid.

Once the wedding is over and you move on to the reception the bridesmaids could put their single flowers in a vase to use as a bouquet for the table setting. Silk flowers are another less expensive way to go. You can get them in advance and store until the wedding. After the wedding the silk flowers can be given away or put in flower arrangements to decorate your home.

Another way to save on flowers is to use what flowers are in season but then you may need to be a bit more flexible on your decorations. The grocery store and farmers markets are a good way to get a lot of flowers for little money. Grocers buy flowers in bulk making them cheaper and farmers market is fresh but may lack in selection.

When doing the centerpieces for the tables you could also consider houseplants, if they are healthy and arrange right they would look very nice. The house plants could be then raffled off at each table and sent home with the lucky winner.

Another way to save on flowers is to have the wedding in a park. You wouldn’t need to have many flowers since you could pick a garden area for the wedding. Then you would have the beauty of the flowers without the price.

There are so many different ways to save money on flowers at your wedding. Although they are beautiful at any wedding people who attend rarely remember the flowers. When asked guests may remember you dress or the vows or the ring bearer. So when considering the price spent on flowers remember that the flowers are only a part of the wedding decorations. The guests and the groom will all be looking at you so maybe you can spend less on the flowers and splurge on your dress and hair!

Almost every girl has a picture of her ideal wedding in her mind. She may dream up something that she can visualize when reading fairy tales that end with and they live happily ever after. She sees flowers, ribbons and laces.

However, when her wedding day comes, she may have other considerations on her mind. She still dreams of her ideal wedding but she starts incorporating other subjects that represent her and her groom. Not to mention that the bride also considers the current trends in wedding fashion and decoration. And the most important subject to talk about when choosing decorations is the cost.

Nobody wants to spend the first few months of being married paying of debts made during the wedding preparations. Therefore, the groom to be and bride to be should be very careful what to spend on. Here are a few things to consider.

Personalize the decorations. Not only does this add a personal touch to the celebration but this also cuts down on the cost. For example, if the bride or the groom is a photographer, they may choose having photos from their collection made the main subjects for the reception design. The photos may also be used for invitations and keepsakes.

Consider renting. Most of the items that will be used for decorations will not be used again. These include the centerpieces, the vases, the arc ways and the artificial flower arrangements. So ask your wedding decorator for options to rent these pieces.

Kids can get bored during the wedding reception. So instead of having kids seated at the same table with the adults, you can have an area where kids can be more casual and can have a small party of their own.

Marriage is a union of families. During the wedding rites, if possible, you may alter some of the practices to include the children of the bride or groom from previous marriage or the parents and families of the couple. Having them perform a special union rite will signify that the wedding is not just a union of two people but also of two families.

For the food during the reception, you may inquire with cooking or culinary arts schools. They may agree to cater for the reception for just the price of the food, or perhaps, a little more. You may also have a pot luck by asking family members and close friends to cook a dish.

If you wanted to cut down on the cost for the wedding party, you can just invite more people to the engagement party. Usually, only cocktails and drinks are served, which cost less than the full set of meals for the wedding reception guests.

For the music, you can look for a local college band or DJ. You can also have your favorite songs just downloaded from the Internet and saved to an mp3 player or CD to be played over the speakers during the reception.

When considering the cost of church decorations, check if there will be another couple that will get married on the same day. They may want to coordinate what decorations can be used for both wedding ceremonies to lessen the need to change decorations before or after the wedding and to split the cost.

Getting married should not be expensive. After all, the essence of marriage is in the union and not in the celebration. You should not also try too hard to please the guests. Your family and friends are there to rejoice this wonderful event with you and not to criticize your wedding.
